Foundations of Faith Community Nursing

Faith Community Nursing (FCN) is a specialty of the American Nurses Association that focuses on the intentional care of the spirit. Faith Nurses incorporate nursing skills, public health concepts, and spiritual expertise in order to provide whole person care – body, mind and spirit to those they care for. Registered nurses of all faith traditions are encouraged to enroll in the 17th Foundations of FCN course offered by Hoag Faith Community Nursing. Upon completion of this course you will be equipped to provide spiritual care, promote integrative models of health and disease prevention, and minimize illness within the context of a faith community. The five-session course involves individual self-paced study, including assigned readings, videos, and homework projects, combined with energetic, thought provoking, inter-active classroom experiences via Zoom.

The following cost includes textbook and materials, payable by check or cash.

$150 - Hoag Partner Faith Nurses

$250 - Hoag RNs

$350 - All other RNs

$150 - Health Ministers (non-licensed; limited availability)

This course has been approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing for 38.5 Continuing Education hours upon successful completion of all course material. Provider #00146.

The participant must attend all 5 sessions to receive CEU credit. No partial credit will be awarded. Each participant should determine whether the course meets the requirements for continuing education by their state’s licensing organization.

Class size is limited to 20 attendees. Registration opens March 22. All paperwork and payment must be received by May 13, 2022. No refunds after May 20; in case of cancellation after May 20 enrollment fees may be applied to a future Foundations of FCN course.

This Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Curriculum course is based on the curriculum developed through the International Parish Nurse Resource Center, which curriculum is owned by the Spiritual Care Association, 505 Eighth Ave, New York, NY 10018.
