This course provides the basic knowledge and skills needed to initiate a faith community nursing ministry. It combines classroom teaching, as well as online self-instructional modules and exercises. Participants will explore the history, philosophy, and ethical practice of faith community nursing, as well as legal issues, accountability, and documentation. In addition, the course will provide tools and resources that faith community nurses and ministries of health can use to initiate disease prevention and health promotion programs. Participants will recognize their role in facilitating prayer, worship, and functioning within a ministerial team.
Target Audience: The major focus of the course is related to the role of the faith community nurse. Anyone who is interested in developing a health ministry team within their church is welcome to attend. All participants who complete the course requirements will be eligible to graduate and receive a certificate of completion and 50 CNEs.
