Do you have your learners complete "bios?" We've found it so helpful to ask each of our registrants to answer 4 questions. (This doesn't take them much time, but when we compile all the bios, we send them to the entire class and our faculty.) The 4 questions are: Where did you get your nursing education? What types of nursing have you practiced? Why do you want to take this course? What is one FUN FACT about yourself? These quick bios give faculty and learners a "heads up" about who is attending the course. I also use the Fun Facts to add some "lightness" during the course. When things are getting too serious, I will say "Trivia Quiz!" Which of your colleagues loves to ride horses? or motorcycles? or plays the harmonica? (Or whatever their fun fact is) The learners enjoy guessing "Who?" and it also helps us to know each other better. Happy Teaching!
