2024 Nominations for HMA Awards Are Being Accepted!
Who do you know that exemplifies an HMA champion? A long standing or new member who has
supported the vision of HMA and been actively engaged in the Faith and Health movement in their
community? This is your opportunity to recognize those who are making a difference in their
communities through one of HMA’s 3 prestigious awards. These awards are an opportunity to recognize
an individual’s excellence, innovation, and leadership. The HMA Awards are:
1. Wilkerson-Dreoge Award-The first HMA award was created to honor Sr. June Wilkerson & The
Rev. Thomas Droege in 2002. It recognizes an outstanding HMA Member who exemplifies
creative leadership, compassionate ministry and visionary faithfulness to HMA and the faith and

2. Westberg Leadership in Faith Community Nursing Award- This award was established by the
Westberg family to honor their father, The Rev. Granger Westberg in 2011. It recognizes an
outstanding Faith Community Nurse who exemplifies the nursing specialty of faith community
nursing and has achieved success in implementing a practice in a faith community that is faith
centered, community driven and wholistic in its approach toward health promotion, disease

3. Norma Small Outstanding Coordinator Leadership Award: This award was established in honor
and memory of Norma Small, PhD, RN, in 2018. It recognizes a distinguished Health Ministries
Coordinator and HMA member, who directs a regional network or program within a healthcare
system. The nominee demonstrates a resourcefulness to implement change through significant
innovative teaching strategies which respond to diverse needs within faith communities and
